“When I was 15 years old, I thought I would die. A jellyfish stung me. It hurt a lot.
Agony swirled through my mind as I imagined its toxic substance streaming through my body.
Yet, I still like the jellyfish. It’s color and beauty strikes me. I realized, too, that if people don’t want to be hurt, they should not hurt others. One can be badly hurt. Just like what the jellyfish did to me,”Luke described the feelings for his artwork.
Luke calls his “Underwater” artwork “Makating Pag-iisip”, a Filipino phrase that means “an itchy imagination”. In his case, it could mean, a burning, stinging imagination.
