Private Mabini Art Collection - Houses - Abodes by Master Paco Gorospe

Artworks by the same artist painting similar subjects – let us have a closer look at abodes artworks. Paco Gorospe (1939 – 2002) was called “A Filipino legend in cubism and modern art from the Mabini School of Art; he was an internationally-acclaimed artist.”

He was also referred to as the “Picasso of the Philippines” due to the European and American influences in his work.

More about the artworks on Houses - Abodes

This is euphemism for squatters who build their abodes on any available space which could be a government idle land, or (Catholic) church property, whatever. The settlers form a community.

In such communities, socio-economic condition became a twin partner of community belonging. Some abodes may look more sturdy and more “colorful” in the visual language of Manansala and Manuel D. Baldemor, but the abodes are still closely-knit without boundary spaces in-between.(Quote of the text from the Book Revisiting ‘Mabini Art’, published in 2013 in Germany; Prof. Paul Blanco Zafaralla, PH.D.)
