More about the artworks

Town and city fiestas in the entire Philippines are noted for blood that literally flows from flesh slashed with sharp, quasi-sickle-shaped blades. Duel to death.

This is the name of the slashing spree. The gladiators size each other. Engage in psy war their way. One charges. Is met by the enemy. They could be locked in a life-ending combat. Or survive each other’s murderous attack. And so the fight to the finish continues. Once again they are locked in combat. On the ground. Or above ground. In the melee, their bodies form a circle. One of them may decide to quit. Or both may continue with the brutal, nonsensical carnage.

Poor combatants. They have just placed their lives on the line. Have just gone through a bloody mess. In the Philippines, this is known as pintakasi. Cockfight.
