Private Collection - Rizal and Art of the Philippines 

Magkaisa Mabini Art Collection draws on its rich German-Filipino heritage of resilience, strength and dependability and is honored to provide insides of the relation between Germany and the Philippines during the time of the National Hero of the Philippines, Dr. José Rizal.

Today we scroll through the Volume 1 to 5 of the “Filipinos in History” published by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (former National Historical Institute) with their vision: “A Filipino society with citizens informed of their history, who love their country and are proud of their cultural heritage.”

In 1989 the than NHI published with the wording: “This is the first of the volumes of Filipinos in History, a compilation of biographies of noted Filipinos who lives, works, deeds and contributions to the historical development of our country have left lasting influences and inspirations to the present and future generations of Filipinos.”


In the 5 printed Volumes of Filipinos in History we will find names and information of the famous artists Juan Luna, Felix R. Hidalgo, Victorio Edades, Hernando R. Ocampo, José Joya and Fernando C. Amorsolo together with José Rizal.

In his 1884 speech in Spain, Dr Jose Rizal flattered Felix R. Hidalgo and Juan Luna by calling them people who ‘imbibed the poetry of nature’.
