Collector's Choice

Sunday is Collector's Choice Day. We do present one special piece of Mabini Art, chosen by private collectors of Art of the Philippines.

Master Roger san Miguel

Pink Roses in Vase, Oil on Canvas, 76 cm x 100 cm, Undated (around 1985, Germany), Signed

For over 80 years now, Mabini Street, the two-kilometer street located in Ermita has been the nexus of touristy and artistic activities. In its heyday, it teemed with art galleries and shops, making it Manila’s most colorful alley.

Roger San Miguel was born on September 12, 1940 in San Pascual, Buhi, Camarines Sur.

Roger San Miguel took up Fine Arts at the University of Sto. Tomas under the sponsorship of Filipino philanthropist and art connoisseur Don Ramon Camacho of Cagayan De Oro.

He had his first one man show at the Philippine Art Gallery in 1965.

Although he follows the Amorsolo tradition, his virtuosity of style swings him the other way into neo-expressionist works. Like all the conservatives, he gravitates towards the representational.
