Luke Joshua Estraña is one of the younger talents of the gallery but is not a stranger to hard work and honest labor. He is one year shy of finishing his college education and has tried his hand at odd jobs here and there to augment his family income.
His father is a professional driver having worked in construction gigs, and as a family driver for a politician’s family. When that ended, he moonlighted as a fisherman in Bicol and Obando, Bulacan with the young boy in tow.
Luke was born on March 3rd, 1999 in Erosin, Sorsogon, living now in Cavite City, Cavite. He did not take up fine arts, therefore we call him a self-taught artist.
He has participated in several art competitions in poster making, cartooning and other festivals.
Hard work paid off and won him several national competitions. He won 1st place in year 2018 and 2019 in the student art division competition in his school. He won 2nd place in on the spot painting competition regional conference. He participated in 53rd shell student art competition having the theme hope in art. He was in the top 25 finalist students out of 1500 students who joined all over the Philippines.
Although he probably is on his way to carving a niche in the art world for himself, he values education and still aims to finish a degree as a back-up plan. He knows whether in art or elsewhere, hard work is the key to success.
